years. Of Carolina's four largest home crowds, three were for matches against the Irish.
It was the fourth largest crowd to watch the Tar Heels play at Fetzer Field, behind crowds of 7,212 for a game against Notre Dame in 1996, 6,024 against Notre Dame in 1998 and 5,721 against George Mason in 1993 for Mia Hamm's farewell game when UNC whitewashed the Patriots, 6-0, in the NCAA championship game.
