[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Sophomore Jonelle Filigno, who played in all three games for Canada at the 2011 Women's World
Cup, scored the first hat trick by a Rutgers player in a decade as the Scarlet Knights defeated Fordham, 4-1.
Freshman Cassie
Inacilo put the Scarlet Knights ahead in the 6th minute, then Filigno added to the Rutgers total with three goals in the second half.
“Jonelle is class,” said Rutgers coach Glenn Crooks. “She is a world-class soccer player with international, World Cup experience. You
can’t discount that kind of experience. She knows what to do in big situations.”
-- It took four hours and three minutes after the opening kickoff due to a halftime delay of
more than two hours, but N.C. State pulled off a 1-0 win over LSU in the front end of a doubleheader at the Dail Soccer Stadium to improve to 4-0-0 on the season.
