Eagles' attack goes silent

[BOSTON COLLEGE-SYRACUSE] One of the puzzles to the start of the women's season concerns the Boston College attack. The No. 6 Eagles have one of the country's best duos in Victoria DiMartino and Kristie Mewis, but BC had to settle for a 0-0 with Syracuse on Thursday night following up on its opening three games when they failed to score more than one goal in any match.

BC (now 2-0-2) managed just three shots at the half as Syracuse bottled up the offense.

The Eagles knew they were in for a long night when Kate McCarthy's header off a Mewis corner kick hit the post in the 1st minute.

In the second half, BC outshot Syracuse, 10-1, but could not connect.

Late in the game, BC was awarded a penalty kick, but Syracuse goalkeeper Brittany Anghel guessed correctly and stopped Mewis with the stop of the night.
