USA headed to Miami in October

The USA will play at Sun Life Stadium Stadium -- known as Joe Robbie Stadium when it was built -- for the first time since 1998 when it faces Honduras in an international friendly on Oct. 8 (TV: Fox Soccer, Univision, live, 6 p.m. ET).

The match will fall on the first two international fixture dates in October and give U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann a week to train the team in South Florida. A match against Ecuador will be played three days later in Connecticut, according to reports out of Ecuador.

The USA last played at Sun Life Stadium in 1998 when it fell to the Netherlands, 2-0. Its last appearance in Miami was a 1-1 draw against Haiti at the Orange Bowl in 2004.

Like the USA, Honduras is exempt from the second round of World Cup 2014 qualifying in Concacaf. The USA holds a 11-3-3 record against Honduras in a series dating back to 1965, but the Catrachos won the last meeting in 2010. They have considerable support in South Florida.
