MLS players come through on Day 1

[WORLD CUP 2014 QUALIFYING] Five MLS players scored on Day 1 of the second round of World Cup 2014 qualifying in the Concacaf zone. Dwayne De Rosario (D.C. United) and Will Johnson (Real Salt Lake) helped rescue Canada in the second half against St. Lucia, Marco Pappa (Chicago) and James Marcelin (Portland) had winning goals for Guatemala and Haiti, respectively, while Jean Alexandre (Real Salt Lake) added two late goals for Haiti. El Salvador got two goals from star Rodolfo Zelaya and survived wild game at the Estadio Cuscatlan. It was 1-0 for El Salvador in the 57th minute when U.S. collegian Francisco Ubiera (Florida Tech) was sent off for the Dominican Republic.

Stoke City's Kenwyne Jones saved T&T with a goal on a volley on the stroke of halftime.

The St. Lucians gave Canada a scare when Tremain Paul scored a minute after Josh Simpson put Canada ahead in the 6th minute. Second-half goals from MLS players Dwayne De Rosario (D.C. United), Will Johnson (Real Salt Lake) and Simpson put the game away. Seattle Sounders backup keeper Terry Boss earned the shutout for Puerto Rico.

The Chicago Fire's Marco Pappa had the first goal for Guatemala in its easy win at Mateo Flores Stadium.
