Penn's Fuller gets 100th career win

[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Penn coach Rudy Fuller picked up his 100th career win as the Quakers open their 2011 season with a 2-0 win over La Salle.

Senior Christian Barreiro had one goal and assisted on sophomore Stephen Baker's goal. Highly rated freshman goalkeeper Max Kurtzman made eight saves in his first career start.

Fuller became the 10th coach in Ivy League history and the fourth Quaker skipper to reach the 100-win plateau. Among current Ivy League coaches, he ranked second behind Princeton’s Jim Barlow, who entered the evening with 114 wins.

-- VCU improved to 3-0-0 with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over crosstown rival Richmond. The Spiders took the lead just one minute into the second half on Spencer Schiff's goal and continued to create chances, but the VCU defense held steady long enough for the Rams to break through on goals by freshman defender Juan Monge Solano and sophomore defender Garrett Harvey.

-- Freshman Victor Calderon scored in the 107th minute to give UC Irvine (3-0-0) a 2-1 win over Gonzaga.

-- Junior Andy Huftalin scored the game-winner in the 110th minute to give host Marquette a 3-2 victory over Western Michigan Friday night.

-- A pair of goals from senior Matt Kuhn ignited unbeaten Drake to a come-from-behind 4-2 victory at San Diego.
