[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Theresa Yankovich scored on Penn’s first shot of the game and it held up for a 1-0 win at JamesMadison that extended the Quakers’ winning streak to five games, all shutouts.

Once again, goalies Sarah Banks and Caroline Williams combined for the shutout for Penn, which is one of just two teams nationally to have not allowed a goal yet in 2011.

The other is another Philadelphiateam, La Salle (4-0-1). Both the Quakers and Explorers play on Sunday, Penn at George Mason and La Salle hosting Princeton.

— Claire Hulcer‘sgoal, the first of her career, gave Tulsa 1-0 win over Utah State, handing the Aggies their first loss after eight wins. Hulcer’s goal came in the 77th minute on a rebound after her penalty kickwas saved.

— Seton Hall improved to 5-1-2 with a 3-2 overtime win over Georgetown in the Big East opener for both teams. Taylor Wilson’s goal inthe 96th minute broke the deadlock and came four minutes after the Hoyas’ Samantha Baker hit the crossbar.

— Canadian junior Chelsea Buckland, who has been struggling through injuries, had the first hat trick of her career to help give Oregon State a 7-0 win over FIU.
