Cowgirls make statement before record Norman crowd

[OKLAHOMA-OKLAHOMA STATE] No. 3 Oklahoma State made it 14 wins in 14 games, the third in the Big 12 and the second of the season over Oklahoma, with a 3-0 win over the Sooners in front of a record 2,002 fans at John Crain Field in Norman.

The win gave the Cowgirls nine wins and a tie in their last 10 matches against OU.

The Cowgirls put the game away early, getting goals from Kyndall Treadwell, her third goal of the season, in the 11th minute, Carson Michalowski with her her second in the 31st and Sarah Brown with her fourth goal in the 55th minute.

"It's pretty surreal at times; it's a credit to the girls and all the hard work they've put in," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael of the 14-0-0 start to the season. "This one tonight was about our seniors. I'm really proud of the fact that they've never lost to OU. They're very proud of that record. They wanted to come down here and make a statement, and they did."

Oklahoma coach Nicole Nelson said OSU goalie AD Franch, who recorded five saves in the match, and the Cowgirls' finishing were the difference in the game. The Sooners outshot OSU, 11-8.

“When we outshoot a team like that and when our goalkeeper has two saves, you don’t expect them to have three goals out of that,” said Nelson.  “So, they are very good at finishing in the box.  In the defensive end, their goalkeeper covers a tremendous amount of ground for them.”
