[USA SPOTLIGHT] Already without its two best attacking midfielders, Jose Torres (sidelined with a broken foot) and Stuart Holden (recuperating from another knee surgery), the USA will be without Landon Donovan for the upcoming matches
against Honduras Saturday and Ecuador three days later because of a strained right quadriceps.
Edson Buddle, who scored two more goals for German second division club FC Ingolstadt on Friday, will replace Donovan on the roster.
Donovan was injured in the Los Angeles Galaxy's 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake. He will remain in Los Angeles to receive treatment.
His national team career (46 goals in 138 games) has been remarkably free of injury.
Despite coming off early in Birmingham City's game on Sunday with a bruised knee, Jonathan Spector joined the national team at its base in Miami, where it will begin training on Tuesday.
