BYU ends Portland's 28-game unbeaten streak in WCC

[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Portland's 28-match unbeaten streak in the WCC ended when the Pilots fell, 2-1, at BYU in overtime before 2,445 fans on Thursday. The NSCAA Game of the Week on Fox Soccer marked the first contest for the Cougars as a member of the WCC.

Defender Lindsi Lisonbee put the Cougars up 1-0 in the 50th minutes, but the Pilots answered less than 90 seconds later when sophomore Micaela Capelle pushed the ball around Cougar goalkeeper McKinzie Olson and then finished into the open net.

BYU's Carlee Payne had a shot pushed off the outside of the post by Portland goalie Hailee DeYoung in the first minute of overtime before Jennie Marshall won the game in the 95th minute.

Struggling UP was outshot 19-4 and fell below .500 at 5-6-1.

-- Senior Tiya Gallegos scored in the 61st minute and classmate Alice Binns stopped six shots to lead Boston University past New Hampshire, 1-0 for its sixth consecutive win and 19th straight victory over an America East opponent.

-- Caitlin Alves scored two goals and set up Mary Beth Hamilton as Hartford beat Stony Brook, 3-0, and improved to 11-0-2 on the season and 4-0-0 in the America East.

-- Samford extended its undefeated streak in Southern Conference play to five straight matches as the Bulldogs registered a 3-0 win over Wofford on goals by Michelle Moll, Kaley Blanton and Amanda Abbot.
