Siena pulls MAAC upset

[VIDEO PICK] Siena, last without a win in the MAAC going into the game, pulled  a huge upset Sunday when it beat ranked Iona, 1-0, on Daniel Alderstad's golden goal.

Iona had won seven straight to climb into the Soccer America Top 25 rankings, but the Gaels fell in the 102nd minute when Alderstad scored on a header after Iona failed to clear Joe Miner's cross into the area.

The Saints controlled the overtime session, attempting all four shots, and out-shot the Gaels, 15-5, after halftime.

Siena has won only four games, but each victory has carried major importance. The Saints defeated-ranked Ohio State; their other two wins have come against Syracuse of the Big East and nearby Albany.
