“I thinkthis game really shows the perseverance and grit of our team,” said Explorers coach Paul Royal.  “We fell behind early and battled back, they tied it lateand we still found a way to win. I’m extremely proud of our girls today for overcoming this obstacle.”

La Salle, which outshot UMass 25-5, also got goals from Gabriella Carbone and Kelsey Haycook.

The Explorers had given up one goal in 13 games coming into the match, but freshman Tori Sousa put the Minutewomen ahead in the 13th minute.

An own goal gave the Minutemen their second goal in the 79th minute.
