France prevails in Val-de-Marne opener

[U.S. UNDER-17 MEN] The USA fell to host France, 3-0, Tuesday in their first game at the Val-de-Marne International Tournament in the Paris suburb of Sucy-en-Brie.

The USA was coming off four games at an international tournament in Albicate, Spain, while this was the first game for the French '94 team.

Marseille's Michel Araai opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Le Havre's Jules Ntcham made it 2-0 in the 38th minute after Patrick Gonfalone's penalty kick was stopped by Paul Christensen, and Bordeaux's Robin Maulun scored on a free kick to finish out the scoring.

The USA will face Peru on Thursday and the Netherlands on Saturday.
