Short-handed Tigers knock off No. 1 Terps

[CLEMSON-MARYLAND] Despite playing short-handed for 67 minutes, Clemson rallied from one goal down to beat No. 1 Maryland, 2-1, on goals by Brynjar Benediktsson and Phanuel Kavita.

Clemson was reduced to 10 men after a red card was issued to Jack Metcalf in the 23rd minute.

Stertzer’s header flicked over Clemson goalkeeper Cody Mizell to put Maryland ahead in the 36th minute.

But Benediktsson's penalty kick in the 51st minute tied the score, and the Tigers won the game in the 85th minute when Austin Savage had his shot saved by Will Swaim, but the rebound darted to Kavita, who scored.

Maryland was playing without starters on defense: Alex Lee (injury) and London Woodberry (suspension).
