[MLS] Frank Klopas has been confirmed as the Chicago Fire's head coach for the 2012 season. Chicago went 8-5-10 under
Klopas after he took over in late May following the departure of Carlos de los Cobos.
"We've gone through a really rigorous process to get here," Chicago owner Andrew Hauptman said. "Frank fits who this club it, who we are. He bleeds for the organization, he knows the league inside and out [and] he has the respect of the players."
Klopas, 45, had played for the Fire and been its technical director since 2008.
In addition to its late-season surge in MLS, the Fire reached the final of the U.S. Open Cup, where it fell to the Seattle Sounders.
