Bob Gansler, Kansas City Wizards head coach since 1999 and winner of the 2000 MLS title, has resigned.
In seven seasons with the Wizards, the former U.S. national team coach (1982
and 1989-90) compiled a regular-season record of 86-85-51 and a playoff record of 9-8-3.
This season, the Wizards are 6-10-2 and are in the midst of a six-game losing streak. They did
not reach the playoffs in 2005, a year after finishing runner-up in 2004.
Gansler's assistant
Brian Bliss will serve as interim head coach.
Gansler is the third coaching
casualty this season, after
Steve Sampson (Los Angeles) and
Mo Johnston (New York.)
