Galaxy loses Barrett with dislocated ankle

[MLS CUP COUNTDOWN] Back in training for MLS Cup 2011 after getting time off following its 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake, the Los Angeles Galaxy lost Chad Barrett, who dislocated his right ankle in training.

Barrett had seven goals and five assists during the regular season and started each of the Galaxy's three playoff games alongside Robbie Keane, who is with the Irish national team for its Euro 2012 qualifying playoff series against Estonia.

In part because of injury concerns, Landon Donovan withdrew from the U.S. national team for its game against France.

Barrett's logical replacement would be forward Adam Cristman unless Coach Bruce Arena chose to move Donovan into the frontline and add another midfielder. In the 63rd minute of Sunday's semifinal, Arena replaced Barrett with midfielder Chris Birchall.

do not like idea of Donovan dropping from game because of his concern about getting an injury...could get that in practice...like to see the team together to give a better picture of how the team is progressing...the injury possibility is always present in any contact sport...the style that France plays is good, technical soccer...not really just boot an shoot physical style, mho...enjoy seeing Donovan play...
