Medina-Mendez leads BC into final

[ACC] Freshman Diego Medina-Mendez played a part in both goals and scored the game-winner in the 66th minute to lead seventh-seeded Boston College to a 2-1 win over Duke that moved the Eagles into Sunday's ACC championship game against top seed North Carolina at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

Boston College, which had beaten No. 2 seed Maryland in the quarterfinals, is making its second trip to the ACC championship game. The last came in 2007 when the Eagles, led by Alejandro Bedoya, won both the regular season and the tournament crown.

Medina-Mendez, who has four goals in the last five matches, set up Israeli Amit Aburmad for the equalizer in the 25th minute and scored the game-winner in the 66th minute.

Duke had taken the lead in the 15th minute when Nat Eggleston blasted a shot from point-blank range and the ball hit off the underside of the crossbar and in for the goal.

Billy Schuler scored 115 seconds into overtime to lift top North Carolina to a 1-0 victory over the fourth-seeded Virginia in the other semifinal.
