Montgomery-Rockville wins first national title

[NJCAA DIVISION III] Montgomery College-Rockville of Maryland won its first NJCAA Division III women’s championship with a 4-0 shutout victory over Monroe College (N.Y.) in Sunday's final in Dryden, N.Y.

Tournament MVP Sonia Basma led the Knights with two goals and assisted on the first goal by Heidi Alfaro. The fourth goal was scored by Tamara Castillo.

Besides Basma, individual awards went to Knights' Anna Bolanos (Offensive MVP)
and Tina Ramirez (Defensive MVP).

Earlier in the tournament, the Knights defeated Jamestown CC-Cattaragaus (N.Y.), 3-1, and Rochester CTC (Minn.), 2-1.
