It's time to sew Blatter's lips shut

Has FIFA President Sepp Blatter put his foot in his mouth for the last time? There are calls for his resignation following his latest doozy: “On the field ofplay, I deny that there is racism. If you had a confrontation during the match, you shake hands, and when the game is over, it is over.”

In England, where there are two investigationsinto alleged racist taunts made by a pair of stars, Chelsea’s John Terry and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, the reaction wasswift: Blatter must go. Said Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand, “Sepp Blatter, your comments on racism are so condescending its almost laughable. If fansshout racist chants but shake our hands, is that OK? I feel stupid for thinking that soccer was taking a leading role against racism …”

At bigsoccer.com, blogger Bill Archer says the hiring of a team of p.r. and media experts to help clean up the image of scandal-ridden FIFA has had little effect. His solution to end Blatter’sfoot-in-mouth problem is a simple one: “sew the man’s lips shut.”
