Unbeaten Lady Tigers fall

[MEMPHIS-LOUISVILLE] No. 3 Memphis' record-setting season came to an end when the Lady Tigers lost for the first time in 24 games, dropping a 2-0 decision to Louisville in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

Louisville set the tone early when Erin Yenney sent a header wide of the left post just 30 seconds into the game and less than two minutes later, Christine Exeter tried a header of her own but it hit the right post.

Louisville finally got on the board in the 68th minute when Jennifer Jones' ball into the box took an awkward bounce over Memphis goalie Elise Kuhar-Pitters and Kim Sharo had an easy tap-in.

Zakiya McIntosh put the Cardinals ahead 2-0 in the 75th minute with her first goal of the season on in a header from close range.

The Lady Tigers finished with a school-record 22 wins and their first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament.
