A Spanish La Liga game between Granada and Mallorca was called off mid-way through the second half after an assistant referee was hit by an umbrella that flew out of the stands.
Granada
was up 2-1 when the referee headed straight for the tunnel after linesman Xavi Aguillar was struck and suffered a cut on his face.
Granada coach Fabri said a boy had
accidentally sent the umbrella flying at the official.
“It was really an act of bad luck in every sense as the poor lad still had the handle in his hand and it seems he lost control
of (the rest of the umbrella) without meaning to,” Fabri said.
