Moloto's golden goal give Lindsey Wilson ninth title

[NAIA MEN] South African Lebogang Moloto's golden goal gave Lindsey Wilson a 3-2  victory over defending champion Hastings in the NAIA men's final Saturday at the Orange Beach (Ala.) Sportsplex. The title was the ninth for the Blue Raiders, second in NAIA history behind the 11 won by former NAIA school Quincy.

Hastings' Jordan Green opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the tournament in the fifth minute, but Australian Mat Luak tied the game at 1-1 in the 36th minute.

Less than a minute before halftime, Lindsey Wilson took a 2-1 advantage on an own goal, and the lead would hold until Jake Ramsay evened the score in the 62nd minute.

The score remained tied until Moloto, the tournament MVP, broke through the Hastings defense for the game-winner.

"Lebogang was so tired and just had a lot of heart," said Lindsey Wilson coach Ray Wells. "When you can find that kind of heart with that kind of talent, that is a special player."
