SATURDAY: Williams' golden goal lifts Bruins past Cardinals

[LOUISVILLE-UCLA] The Louisville-UCLA quarterfinal rematch didn't turn out like last year's epic match. Instead of 5-4, this year's game ended 1-0. Instead of a victory for the host Cardinals, the Bruins prevailed when Reed Williams' golden golden, his first goal of the season, sent UCLA to its first Men's College Cup since 2006.

This is the 13th time UCLA will be appearing in the semifinals. This year, the College Cup will be played in Hoover, Ala., which happens to be the hometown of UCLA's top scorer, Chandler Hoffman.

In a defensive struggle, UCLA finished with a 17-12 shot advantage but could not beat Louisville keeper Andre Boudreaux until the 102nd minute when Williams took a cross in the middle of the box from Patrick Matchett and shot a low liner that hit the far post and went in.

The shutout was the Bruins' eighth straight, tying a school record that was set by the 1977 squad.
