Dempsey breaks record with goal against Liverpool

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Clint Dempsey became the all-time leading American scorer in the English Premier League when he scored in the 85th minute to give Fulham a 1-0 win over Liverpool. The controversial victory, only the Cottagers' third win of the season, moved them out of the relegation zone into 16th place and snapped the Reds' 11-game unbeaten streak.

Dempsey scored his fourth goal in 14 EPL games when he stabbed home the rebound of shot from from Danny Murphy that had bounced off the arms of Liverpool keeper Jose Reina.

The goal was Dempsey's 37th EPL goal, breaking the record he shared with former Fulham star Brian McBride.

Liverpool earlier had a strong claim for a penalty when Swiss defender Philippe Senderos took down Scotsman Charlie Adam but the foul was ruled to have taken place outside the penalty area. Uruguayan star Luis Suarez also had a goal disallowed for a bad offside call.

The momentum was all in Liverpool's favor until Jay Spearing was red carded after 71 minutes for a dangerous challenge on Moussa Dembele.

The Reds' bad luck was complete when Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer tipped substitute Stewart Downing's shot on to the post.

In the first half, Jordan Henderson had also hit the woodwork for Liverpool.

I reminded players to follow-up like Dempsey did for this score thousands of times. So simple but a large percentage of scoring are simply following other players shots.
