Wambach, Marta and Sawa form FIFA shortlist

[AWARDS] U.S. national team star Abby Wambach is a finalist for the 2011 FIFA Women's Player of the Year award along with five-time winner Marta of the 2011 WPS champion New York Flash, and Wambach's former Washington Freedom teammate, Homare Sawa of World Cup champion Japan. U.S. national team coach Pia Sundhage is a finalist for the Women's Soccer Coach of the Year award.

Wambach was the runner-up to Sawa as the winner of the adidas Golden Ball as the MVP of the 2011 Women's World Cup.

Japan's Norio Sasaki and France's Bruno Bini are Sundhage's competition for the coaching award.
