[CLUB WORLD CUP] Neymar, Borges and Danilo scored the goals by which South American champion Santos of Brazil
beat Kashiwa Reysol, 3-1, Wednesday in the World Club Cup semifinals.
Santos, along with European champion Barcelona, was given a bye into the semifinals. Barcelona, the 2009 world
champion, plays Al-Sadd of Qatar on Thursday in Yokohama, the site of Sunday’s final.
The 19-year-old Neymar put Santos ahead in the 19th minute after taking a pass from
Ganso. Borges doubled the lead five minutes later, and after Hiroki Sakai pulled Kashiwa to 2-1 in the 54th minute, Danilo restored the two-goal margin with a 25-yard
free kick in the 63rd.
Concacaf champion Monterrey won the fifth-place match by beating African champion Esperance Sportive of Tunisia, 3-2.
