Pizza Hunt Park is no more. Or at least the name to the home of FC Dallas, the third of the soccer stadiums built for MLS.
The complex, which includes the stadium used for soccer and
football and 17 adjacent soccer fields popular for local and national youth competitions, will be renamed FC Dallas Stadium until a new sponsor can be found.
Stadium naming rights are
lucrative -- the Pizza Hut Park deal was reported to be $25 million over 20 years -- but it's
increasingly difficult to find takers. In the Dallas area, the new Cowboys Stadium doesn't have a sponsor and Rangers Ballpark has gone through several name sponsors.
In a statement, FC
Dallas said, "Pizza Hut, as the company has recently shown with some of its other venue agreements, has shifted its sports marketing philosophy and will no longer be our naming rights partner. We are
actively searching for a new naming rights partner for the stadium and are in discussions with several interested companies."
