Johnson joins Beasley to Puebla

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Eddie Johnson is the latest American to move to Mexico, joining DaMarcus Beasley at Puebla. Johnson, who has 42 caps for the USA, has been without a team since his contract with Fulham expired in the summer.

In August, it was announced that Johnson would be returning to MLS, where he had played for FC Dallas and Kansas City, but the deal fell apart at the last minute.

He moved to Fulham in 2008 but never settled in with the Cottagers, playing just 18 EPL games, most off the bench, in three-plus seasons. He spent time on loan to Cardiff City, Greek club Aris and Preston North End.

Johnson, who joins Beasley, Spaniard Luis Garcia, Brazilian Lucas Silva and Uruguayan Jonathan Lacerda as the foreign contingent at Puebla, is the second American to move to the Mexican First Division during the offseason.

Greg Garza
signed with Tijuana, where he joins Benny Joe Corona and Edgar Castillo, who moved on loan from Club America.
