Jermaine Jones: 'The nastiest player in German soccer'

[AMERICANS ABROAD] U.S. national team midfielder Jermaine Jones is under fire in the German media.
He was
red carded (VIDEO) in stoppage time for picking up his second yellow card in Schalke 04's 3-1 loss to Borussia
Moenchengladbach Wednesday in the German Cup, but it was an incident that was not seen by the referee that has a columnist for n-tv (the German equivalent of CNN) calling Jones "the filthiest
player in Germany," and writer for the respected Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung calling for Jones to be kicked out of the Bundesliga.
Television replays (see video below) showed the
German-American Jones stepping on Gladbach star Marco Reus' left foot. Reus is playing with a specially designed shoe because of a broken toe but still scored
twice in the win that knocked the defending champions.
In a column entitled "The nastiest player in German soccer," Stefan Giannakoulis of n-tv said Jones stomped on Reus' foot with the intent to injury him, and the German federation (DFB) will have to
take action.
In his Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung blog entitled "Lousy, lousier, Jermaine Jones," Peter Koerte said Jones' act was deliberate and not taken in the heat of the moment. "Basically, he doesn't even belong in the Bundesliga," said
Koerte, who added that he had never seen anything so deliberate before.
I hope the US national team staff are paying attention. All we need is this idiot to stomp on someone and get sent off in a WC match.
Having seen the video of the foot stomp before the video of the 2nd yellow card, it was pretty easy to know what happened below the camera's view. Yes, the Shalke player "made a meal of it" but Jones clearly intended to stomp on him, too. Could have been a straight red.
Jones is too big a potential liability to be helpful to the US national team. We need skillful players who think - not players who let their temper get the best of them.
I second that motion from Christopher Vreeland.
Anybody who watches the Bundesliga knows Jones often plays dirty. I could not believe that Klinsmann included this man in our national team. He never deserved to wear our colors!

If that is the most deliberate action taken in the Bundesliga, then I don't think they much of anything to worry about.
Reus was still on the pitch and moving without any limp in the 90th minute when Jones was sent off. Reus was so scared of Jones that Reus confronted Jones at that time.
And the second yellow would be laughable except for the fact that Jones was so stupid to have gotten conned into further confrontation already down 3-1. It was the Borussia player who grabbed Jones around the head and then flopped like a wounded deer. If anyone should be disciplined it should be Borussia's #10.
