[NORTHWESTERN] Michael Moynihan, who led Wisconsin-Milwaukee to 12 straight Horizon League regular-season championships,
has left the Panthers to become the head coach at Northwestern.
Associate head coach David Nikolic, who has spent the last 18 years as an assistant coach with the Panthers, will also depart to join Moynihan at Northwestern.
In 2011, UWM won a school-record 19 matches and won an NCAA Tournament contest for the first time. It rose to as high as ninth in the Soccer America rankings.
The streak of 12 straight conference titles is the second longest of its kind, trailing only Penn State’s 14 straight Big Ten titles.
“Michael has had tremendous success building the Milwaukee women’s soccer program into one of the best in the country," said Northwestern's Director of Athletics and Recreation, Jim Phillips, "and I am excited about the future of Northwestern women’s soccer under his leadership."
