[MICHIGAN] Chaka Daley, led Providence to seven consecutive winning seasons and five NCAA Tournament appearances in hisfinal seven seasons with the Friars, accepted the position of head coach at Michigan, replacing Steve Burns, the only coach in the program’s 12-year history.
“We are excited about the leadership that Coach Daley will bring to our men’s soccer program,” said Director of Athletics Dave Brandon. “Chaka has awealth of experience both as a coach and player at a variety of levels.”
In his 12 seasons at Providence, Daley’s teams collected a 90-111-27 overall record, highlighted by a mark of72-47-21 over the last seven seasons. In 2012, PC earned a spot in the Big East championship match for only the second time in school history.
A native of Toronto, Daley pursued a procareer following his graduation from Providence. He played for the Rhode Island Stingrays (1996-97) and Boston Bulldogs (1998-99) before moving on to MLS’ New England Revolution for which he played ina pair of matches during the 1999 season for the Revs.
