West Ham to give John platform

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Yet another American player is set to move to England on loan, but this one could result in a permanent transfer. George John, who withdrew from the January national team camp, is set to move to West Ham United of the League Championship from FC Dallas with the option for a permanent transfer.

"He's a good defender, of the right stature and the right ability and the right ambition who sees his future in this country," said Hammers manager Sam Allardyce. "He wants to be challenged, wants to improve and his dream is to come and play here. Hopefully, we will give him the platform he needs to fulfill those dreams."

John, a 24-year-old center back out of the University of Washington, has eyed a move to England for a year now. He holds a Greek passport, facilitating his move.

West Ham is tied for first with Southampton in the League Championship.
