What They're Saying

"This is a different level. Everything is done much faster. Not only do you have to make decisions fast, [you] have to think ahead. This is especially difficult for players here, where they come from a background where a lot of the next moves are being told to them. 'Oh, you pass here, pass there.' It's not working. The moment you go to a higher level, you've got to think ahead. You've got to move into the space before the ball comes."

-- Jurgen Klinsmann on why the USA lags behind the rest of the world in soccer. (Los Angeles Times)

Sounds like Klinsmann is all too ready to put the blame exclusively on players for the team's poor play since he's been the coach.

If you watched the game against Venezuela you would understand what he is saying. Some USMNT players get it, most of them don't.
