Add Carlos Tevez to the list of players French club Paris Saint-Germain has pursued but failed to sign.
After missing out on David Beckham and
Alexandre Pato, PSG set its sights on Tevez, who hasn't played for Manchester City since September. Man City coach Carlo Ancelotti and PSG sporting director
Leonardo met with the player’s adviser, Kia Joorabchian, in Paris last week, but could not broker a deal.
“We’ve ended the negotiations," said
Leonardo to sports daily L’Equipe o its website on Tuesday. “So we’re stopping. It’s over.”
PSG leads Montpellier by three points atop the French league but
may have run out of options in its quest to sign a major star, though the European transfer window is open for a few more days.
“There aren’t many opportunities left and
we’re not going to splash out,” Leonardo said. “We’re already fine as we are. We have a competitive squad."
