CNN's soccer-basher suspended for homophobic tweet

[MEDIA WATCH] Roland Martin acknowledges he likes to take a swipe at soccer every chance he gets, but his bosses at CNN did not take kindly to tweets the anchor made during the Super Bowl. CNN suspended Martin for "regrettable and offensive" tweets that included a reference to any male fans of David Beckham’s underwear commercial for H&M as being not “real bruhs.”

Martin also tweeted: “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him! #superbowl." And: “I bet soccer fan Piers Morgan will be in line at H&M in the morning to get his hands on David Beckham’s underwear line! LOL.”

Morgan is the CNN host who previously worked as a British tabloid editor and television presenter and appeared this season on Fox's EPL coverage as an analyst.

“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive,” CNN said in a statement. “Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”

During the Super Bowl, Martin tweeted that those who didn't understand his remarks were consistent with his soccer-bashing were "ignorant."

Later Martin issued an apology: “It was meant to be a deliberately over-the-top and sarcastic crack about soccer; I do not advocate violence of any kind against anyone gay, or not. As anyone who follows me on Twitter knows, anytime soccer comes up during football season it’s another chance for me to take a playful shot at soccer, nothing more.”

what a waste of time. It was an obvious attempt at humor and not some homophobic rant. And who cares if it was?

If you're watching CNN with other DUDES and Roland Martin is wearing an ascot and any man likes his ascot , smack the crap out of him.
Hey I'm just making fun of CNN not how gay someone must be to like an ascot! I think it was Shakespeare who wrote:
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
