Barbasol is new face of the Crew

[MLS BUSINESS] Barbasol, whose connection with sports goes back to the turn of the last century when Babe Ruth and Knute Rockne were spokespersons for the shaving cream, has signed a five-year deal as the Columbus Crew's jersey sponsor.

“MLS jersey sponsorship is such a unique opportunity in major-league sports and Barbasol is proud and honored to partner with a championship team and organization like the Crew,” Thomas J. Murray, president and CEO of Perio, Inc., the Barbasol parent company, said in a statement. “Barbasol has a long tradition of connecting with sports, from the early days of Babe Ruth and Knute Rockne to today with partners like ESPN, the Big Ten Network and personalities like Boomer Esiason, Jimmy Jackson, Mike & Mike and Louie Vito. Now we feel like we are bringing America’s shaving cream to America’s Hardest Working Team.”
Barbasol replaces paint manufacturer Glidden as the Crew jersey.

Hmm. Guess I'll have to stop using my fave shave cream. Go, Red Bulls!
Ahh, I'm just being a jerk! I'll keep using it.

Although it's inaccurate, I'll assume that by "the turn of last century", you meant passage from the 1800s to the 1900s (the "last" century was the 20th). But stating that Babe Ruth at the age of 5 or 6, and Knute Rockne at the advanced age of 12 or 13, were spokesmen for Barbasol are inaccuracies too hard to ignore.
Listen, I'm available if you need a copy editor.

How much did Barbasol pay to be on the Crew jerseys?
