Collin Martin, youngest U-20 callup

[FOUR THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ...] Collin Martin is the lone high school junior training with the U.S. under-20 national team in Clermont, Fla. He is one of the top prospects in D.C. United's academy program. For four things to know about Martin ...

DA STAR. Martin is one of the top players on D.C. United's U-17/18 academy team. He was one of three midfielders named to the 2011 U-15/16 Development Academy Starting XI. He had 13 goals in helping D.C. win the Mid-Atlantic Division. He already has three goals in five games for the U17/18s.

PSA RESIDENT. Martin spent 2007 in residency at Brad Friedel's private soccer academy that went bust, Premier Soccer Academy based in Lorain, Ohio. Other players who attended the short-lived program include Joy Gyau, who is now at Hoffenheim in Germany, and Victor Garza, who is at Tigres in Mexico.

TRAINING ABROAD. Martin is no stranger to the national team program, having been with the U-14s and U-15s. He has experience training at Manchester United in 2008 and Hoffenheim this past summer.

WAKE PIPELINE. Martin, who attends Bethesda-Chevy Chase in Maryland, has verbally committed to Wake Forest for 2013. D.C. United Academy star Jalen Robinson will be playing for the Demon Deacons in 2012. Another 2013 D.C. United player, Rafael Fagundo, will be headed to Winston-Salem.
