Olympic hopefuls have patience tested

[U.S. UNDER-23 MEN] The U.S. under-23 national team defeated the NASL's San Antonio Scorpions 3-0 in a scrimmage Friday night on second-half goals by Brek Shea, Dilly Duka and Jack McInerney.

The Scorpions were playing their first game as a newly formed NASL franchise.

"I thought we controlled the game from start to finish," said U.S. U-23 coach Caleb Porter. "Tonight was good because it tested our patience. But we stuck with it, kept moving the ball, and eventually wore them down."

The U-23s play Mexico Wednesday in Frisco.
