Revs sweep MLS powerhouses

[DESERT DIAMOND CUP] The Desert Diamond Cup features such MLS powers as the Los Angeles Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake, but the lowly New England Revolution have dominated the Tucson tournament, moving into the final with its third win in a row, a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. In the final, it will meet the Galaxy, who advanced despite losing to the Red Bulls, 2-1.

Uruguayan-born teenager Diego Fagundez and Bjorn Runstrom scored for the Revs. Runstrom is a 27-year-old Swede who has played for clubs in Sweden, England, Italy, Germany, Denmark and Norway.

New York got goals from strikers Kenny Cooper and Thierry Henry. Brazilian signing Marcelo Sarvas pulled one back for the Galaxy on a free kick late in the match. Sarvas' goal gave Los Angeles the edge over RSL and New York by virtue of its better goal difference.
