FIFA will conduct a “routine” investigation into Bahrain’s 10-0 win over Indonesia that was within minutes of allowing Bahrain to overtake Qatar for second place in their Asian World Cup 2014qualifying group and move into the final round of qualifying.

Qatar’s goal in the 83rd minute earned it a 2-2 tie at Iran and the point it needed to avoid ending up in a tie with Bahrain, which came back from a nine-goal deficit on goal difference to win the tiebreaker. (Amazingly, Bahrain also missed two penalty kicks in the game.)

“FIFA security will conduct a routineexamination of this game and its result,” soccer’s world governing body said in a statement.

Indonesia, which had lost all five previous group matches, had its goalkeeper sent off afterjust two minutes and fielded several inexperienced players. Several regulars were suspended because they play for clubs in the breakaway Indonesian Super League. The Indonesian football associationinstead recognizes the Indonesian Premier League.
