U.S. U-17s beat and tie older opponents

[TEN NATIONS TOURNAMENT] The U.S. under-17 women's national team beat France and the Netherlands 2-0 and tied England 1-1 in games against under-19 opposition at the Ten Nations Tournament at the La Manga sports center in Spain.

The Americans were gifted an own goal by the French keeper and then added a second goal by Andi Sullivan on an assist from Summer Green in the second half.

Against England, Green set up Morgan Andrews for the tying goal after England had gone ahead on the half hour.

An Amber Munerlyn goal and another own goal were the difference against the Dutch.

"Overall, I thought it was a very good week for us,” said U.S. coach Albertin Montoya. “We got better as the week went on and we had a good performance today against a strong Dutch team. This tournament definitely helped us prepare for qualifying. Now we just need to fine-tune a few things. But I'm very pleased with the team's performance from the beginning to end of this tournament."

The U.S. team is currently preparing for CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifying that will be held from May 2-12 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
