Doyle suffers setback at Derby County

Young Texan Conor Doyle's second season at English club Derby County has certainly been frustrating. The 20-year-old forward has been limited to six appearances -- one as a starter -- after playing 13 games in his first season with the Rams.

With Derby approaching the safety zone in the League Championship, manager Nigel Clough hoped to insert Doyle in the lineup on the right side of midfield for an extended look, but the American is now sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a torn hamstring suffered playing for the reserves.

"It is a blow for Conor and bad timing because as soon as we got to the safety mark, points-wise, we were going to take a look at him on the right side of midfield," said Clough. "With right back John Brayford out and Paul Green probably having to stay at right back, it was an ideal chance to take a look at Conor, once we had sufficient points in the bag. He has done ever so well in training but now he is likely to be out for most of the rest of the season."
