Italian-American Giuseppe Rossi has re-injured his right knee and will be out another six months, ending his hopes of playing for Italy at Euro 2012.

Rossi aggravated the ligament injury during Friday's training session with Spanish club Villarreal and will require surgery for the second time in six months.

Without Rossi, who scored 32 goals in all competitions last season, Villarreal has sunk to 17th in La Liga and exited the Champions League in embarrassing fashion with six straight losses.

I feel bad for Rossi, but question why he was allowed back so soon. If my dates are correct, he had surgery October 26th, meaning he was training with Villareal less than 6 months after the surgery. I hope he wasn't told by Italy's FA to get some games in before he would be considered for the euro squad.
