Suazo powers Monterrey past Santos

[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] Chilean Humberto Suazo scored both goals to give defending champion Monterrey a 2-0 win over Santos Wednesday in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final. Aldo De Nigris set up Suazo for the first goal in the 60th minute, and Suazo beat three defenders to score the second goal in the 86th minute (see video), his seventh goal of the Concacaf campaign. He'll miss the second leg, however, after picking up a yellow card early in the game.

Monterrey has now won all five games this year in the Champions League knockout phase.

American Herculez Gomez started for Santos and had several good looks at goal. The game marked the first time in nine games he had not scored at least one goal.
