Foxhoven on fire in Russia

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Former University of Portland star Danielle Foxhoven scored the tying goal late in regulation and converted the first penalty kick in Energiya Voronezh's 4-1 shootout win over Kubanochka Krasnodar in the quarterfinals of the Russian Women's Cup.

Foxhoven scored to even the score at 2-2 in the 84th minute. It was her third goal in two games since arriving in Russia.

It will face Zvezda 2005 Perm in the semifinals on April 30.

Energiya is four points behind Rossiyanka in the Russian women's championship.

Rossiyanka, a 2-0 winner over Izmailovo Moskva, will meet Zorkiy in the other Women's Cup semifinals.

Rossiyanka featured a trio of Yanks, Kia McNeill, Yael Averbuch and Leigh Ann Robinson, in its UEFA Women's Champions League campaign. After the clubs' exit, they returned home.
