Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has been voted England 2012 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association.
Van Persie, 28, topped the poll of journalists
with a landslide victory ahead of Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney in second place, teammate Paul Scholes in third, and USA international Clint
Dempsey fourth.
Van Persie has scored 34 goals in all competitions this season and was also named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year last week.
Dempsey has scored a career-best 22 goals for Fulham in all competitions, including 16 in the Premier League.
