What We're Reading

More Toronto heartbreak

Toronto again came close to picking up its first point of the season -- but instead fell, 3-2, to Real Salt Lake and its 0-7-0 start matches the worst in MLS history, Kansas City in 1999.

Toronto tied the game twice on goals by Eric Avila in the 48th minute and Doneil Henry in the 77th, but German veteran Torsten Frings had missed a penalty kick in the 17th minute and 82nd minute sub Jonny Steele scored Real Salt Lake's winner in stoppage time.

"They worked very hard for it," TFC coach Aron Winter said. "In the end we needed to get at least one point. If you watch the game, if you’re going to compare the chances that we had with they had, we had the better chances. We had the penalty, hit the crossbar. We got a lot of opportunities. That’s football."
