Late yesterday Real Madrid announced its first signings of the summer. As expected, former Juventus stars Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson have made their way to the Bernabeu, costing a combined $25
million. Real's vocal new president, Ramon Calderon, assured its fans that this is only the beginning. Arsenal's Fabregas and Chelsea's Robben will be next, "and you can't stop us," proclaims The Sun.
"I promised before I was elected to bring Cesc Fabregas, Arjen Robben and Kaka to Real Madrid and I believe it is still possible to complete my promise," announced Calderon. " The latest all these
deals will be resolved is by the end of July." Oh, and Ruud Van Nistelrooy is still likely to depart Old Trafford for Madrid before the end of the week, as he's expected to report for training camp
next week. Over at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho wants to add two left-backs to his already considerable summer spending. The Daily Mirror reported this morning that Arsenal's Ashley Cole will be moving to
Chelsea at a cost of $30 million to the London club, while Real Madrid old-timer Roberto Carlos is expected to join Cole at Stamford Bridge for around $7 million. Why two left backs? Fox Sports says
that Roberto Carlos is the favorite player of Roman Abramovich's son Arkady, "and is being bought as a treat for the youngster." As a result, both Wayne Bridge and Asier Del Horno are expected to
depart, the former for Spurs and the latter for Valencia.
