More Transfers and Rumors

Late yesterday Real Madrid announced its first signings of the summer. As expected, former Juventus stars Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson have made their way to the Bernabeu, costing a combined $25 million. The Daily Mirror reported this morning that Arsenal's Ashley Cole will be moving to Chelsea at a cost of $30 million to the London club, while Real Madrid old-timer Roberto Carlos is expected to join Cole at Stamford Bridge for around $7 million. Why two left backs? Fox Sports says that Roberto Carlos is the favorite player of Roman Abramovich's son Arkady, "and is being bought as a treat for the youngster." As a result, both Wayne Bridge and Asier Del Horno are expected to depart, the former for Spurs and the latter for Valencia.
