Press hits hat trick, Yanks eye German title

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Christen Press scored a hat trick in the span of 24 minutes on either side of halftime to help FC Gothenburg beat Linkoping, 6-0, in Sweden's Damallsvenskan. The three goals moved Press into second place in the league scoring lead with nine goals in six games.

FC Gothenburg is tied for fourth place, two  points off the lead shared by Tyreso, LdB Malmo and Vittsjo.

Former UCLA star Danesha Adams has five goals for Vittsjo.

It was a big weekend for Americans in Germany.

Turbine Potsdam with Alyssa Naeher and Alex Singer beat Duisburg, 2-0, and holds a one-point lead over Wolfsburg with one game to go in the Frauen Bundesliga.

Potsdam can clinch the title with a win over last-place Lokomotive Leipzig on Monday.

Sarah Hagen scored both goals for Bayern Munich in its 2-2 tie with Leipzig.

Katie Bethke's penalty kick was the difference as Bayer Leverkusen beat Jena, 3-2, to move out of the cellar.
